On Saturday 25th July some members from the TMC Friday Night Hiking group went to Kerry to hike & climb The Reeks Ridge. John Byrne led the group, starting at Cronin's Yard before ascending south-eastward up a grassy slope toward Lough Cummeenapeasta. After arriving at the lough the low cloud started lifting giving us the first amazing views of the reeks with Carrauntoohill standing majestically in the background. From the lake we had a steep ascent to the first summit of Cruach Mhor (932m) .From here, we followed the narrow ridge to reach the Big Gun. A scramble to Cnoc na Peiste ,onward to Maolan Bui & Cnoc an Chuillin (958m) . This bring us to our final summit Cnoc Toinne and from here descending the Zig Zags to take us back to Cronin:s Yard.
