Can you help find a camera which was misplaced yesterday
Greetings fellow walkers.
I am sending this message in case any of you go walking in the Wicklow Hills this Bank Holiday weekend - I know that some members of our club are away walking in the Lake District this weekend so it will be quite unlikely that any of you will be able to be of assistance to me but here goes.
I lost my camera today - I went walking with Michael Kelliher on the TMC monthly 'Easy walk'. We began our walk at the Wicklow Gap car park and we completed a long walk up and across the hills - at one point we walked by the fencing which has been erected to keep intruders away from the Resevoir which operates in the provision of Hydro Electricity - our walk finished shortly after we passed Lough Nahanagan and we returned to the car park to leave for Hollywood Pub & home. Within a few minutes of leaving the car park I realised that I did not have my Canon (Ixus 115 HS)camera with me. Michael drove me back to the car park, we checked the area in which we had changed out of our dirty shoes etc but there was no sight of the camera. I asked some walkers about same but none could help me, I retraced my steps for a short distance but to no avail. Basically I think I lost my camera towards the end of our walk because I took lots of photos climbing upwards but less towards the end of the day (due to tiredness). I have no real idea where I lost the camera but suffice to say, it was stored in a camera pouch which clipped on to the belt of my walking trousers. I imagine that the clip holding the camera and the container must have come loose and I did not notice when it slipped away from my possession.
I am submitting this message in the faint hope that some other walker might come across a small canon camera while out walking today or even tomorrow. The camera itself is of limited value but it contains photos taken on several Wed evening walks with Paddy Looney and also recent 'Easy' Sunday walks. On a personal level, I returned only last Mon from a holiday in Andalucia, Southern Spain and all my holiday snaps were still in the camera - Unfortunately, I had been tardy as regards downloading the photos to my PC and I fear that they are well and truly lost to me now! I did leave a note containing my name and mobile no. at the Hollywood Inn in case by (rare) chance some other walker might have found the camera and thought to drop it there. I can be contacted via the TMC Facebook page and website (http://www.tullowmountaineeringclub.ie/contact-us.html ).
Thanks for reading this and please keep your eyes and ears open as who knows I might be lucky - someone might have noticed the camera soon after I dropped it. Unfortunately, I do not have any identifying marks or details on the camera or within the case so I do not hold out any real chance that it will be found and returned to me however I am taking a chance in sending out this information tonight! Hilary (TMC)
