Walk 1, Sliabh Sneacht & The Poisoned Glen, in the Derryveagh Mountains
We started from the ruin church of Dunlewey and headed into the Poisoned Glen, ascending westwards along Drumnaliffernn mountains passing Lough Maam Beg, one of the many lakes we encountered on our walk. Our last climb of the day was summiting Sliabh Sneacht. We then completed the difficult decent back to our cars by the river Devlin.
The terrain was very difficult being both wet and craggy, underfoot conditions made route finding challenging. The weather was good making it an ideal day for walking with great views of the surrounding mountains. Over the course of the day we hiked 16km and our accent for the day was a total of 882m.
